Hidden Cooling Inefficiency Behind Generator Winding Temperature Rise

Issue

Abnormal behavior was detected in the generator windings temperature patterns. Possible root causes included clogging of the heat exchanger tubes, low or high coolant level or pressure, insulation damage between windings, malfunction in the cooling or lubrication system, or converter malfunction.

Action

A steady upward trend in generator winding temperatures prompted checks on the radiator and coolant system.

The site team carried out radiator cleaning, coolant replacement, and bearing cleaning. Kavaken’s continued monitoring showed only partial recovery, prompting another round of cleaning that finally stabilized the temperature levels and confirmed the issue was fully resolved.

Impact

160 MWh production loss prevented
